Description: With the post-war auto racing boom in full swing, the custom ignition business Chuck Potvin started in high school quickly outgrew his parent's garage. In 1948 Chuck purchased a corner shop and decked it out with cam grinders, a homemade master cam generator, a dynamometer, and several lathes and began crafting his own cam grinds that, like his ignition systems, found a sweet spot in the market. While he made countless models over the years, the most popular was the 425 Eliminator, the cam that the first car to break the 160 mph barrier was running.
Description: Standard Automotive Manufacturing Company was founded in 1952 in Los Angeles, California by Aaron Fenton. He jumped in with both feet as the hot rod craze took off, making everything from headers, cams, and air cleaners, to heads, intakes, shifters, and wheels, all sold under the brand name of Fenton. While many of their products were clearly knock-offs of other popular aftermarket parts, they did make a few original designs here and there. As a result, Fenton's products were usually noticeably cheaper than the brand name version, especially when it came to custom wheels and by the '70s, wheels were their primary focus. This design comes from their refreshed '70s branding and wheel focused brand, with an iconic 5 slot mag front and center.
Description: Post-war America was hot rod and kustom crazy and in the early '50s, Lee Plastics of Detroit stepped up to deliver something the masses very much wanted – Custom crafted taillights! Utilizing precision vacuum formed plastics, Lee developed an extensive line of direct bolt on taillight replacements for just about every popular make and model of American car. Lee Plastics kept this up throughout the '50s and '60s, but sadly closed up shop and didn't make it into the '70s. Today, Lee Plastics unique taillight lens designs remain highly sought after by hot rodders to run on their cars or just sit on a shelf as a collector's item and can fetch pretty high dollars.
