On my recent trip to Japan I was extremely inspired by the majesty of Mount Fuji! I decided to do "31 Views of Mt. Fuji" as my theme for this year's Inktober. All the paintings are done with Sumi Ink and are based on my photos that I took while in Japan ^-^ Walking along the lake you can spot dozens of boats lying empty and unused. I wondered how much trouble we would be in if we just borrowed one for an hour or two? In general, seeing people leave their bikes (and boats) unlocked was quite a stark difference to life in New York.

All the paintings are done with Sumi Ink and are based on my photos that I took while in Japan ^-^ On a day when it is really clear you can see the very peak of Mount Fuji in perfect detail. The trails leading up to the summit call to me, but since it was September they were closed. The climbing season lasts for only a couple short months, before the weather gets too dangerous for hiking. I think next time I'll try to reach the top.

On my recent trip to Japan I was extremely inspired by the majesty of Mount Fuji! I decided to do "31 Views of Mt. Fuji" as my theme for this year's Inktober. All the paintings are done with Sumi Ink and are based on my photos that I took while in Japan ^-^ We were there in mid-September but the weather was still hot. We were thrilled to find there were still plenty of flowers to oggle at. These ones were beautiful groupings of tiny, four-leafed purple flowers that I'm not quite sure what the name of is.
