This means that even if the amount of damage dealt is less than the toughness of the target creature, that creature will be destroyed. If a source with deathtouch deals damage to a player, that player will lose that much life. Deathtouch is usually represented in the rules text of a card by the keyword "deathtouch," and the ability is often associated with creatures that are dangerous or poisonous.
