This was a design I created to decorate a cake for the department bake-off at my day-job. I created a chocolate-orange and chilli sponge with layers of chilli-orange jelly and chocolate-orange frosting covered in decorated fondant icing. And I won!

Did you ever wonder who the original model for the skull and cross bones was? Did he voluntarily bequeath his body to the pirate arts?

This piece originally began life as a book cover submission. It wasn’t chosen in the end. So I suppose it could now be considered fan art.

As the machine uprising is almost inevitable at some point, I thought I’d get in their good graces early. Maybe I’ll be spared for a little while! I had happened upon a book of North Korean propaganda posters at my local library. I was amused at the messages that tried convince individuals that being drones in a larger machine was the ideal way to succeed in all things, and the ultimate expression of patriotism, and that even milking your goat can be an act of defiance against your oppressors. The idea of using these messages to encourage passion and unity in true emotionless drones was titillating and lead to this piece.

If we get a summer – celebrate. If we don’t – reminisce, but always barbecue!

A friend of my sister once described me as eccentric. I felt compelled to indicate that my dearth of sufficient pecuniary reputation to secure such encomium precluded the bestowal of such an accolade. I told her I was too poor to be eccentric. True story!
