Ghost Street in Beijing, China, is full of interesting restaurants, colorful buildings and, at night, accordingly full of people. One of the first houses on this street had these incredibly steep and narrow stairs leading past a closed door up to a roof restaurant. The evening sun was just striking the cruise ship and turning its white color golden on a calm winter evening in the harbor of Malaga, Spain, when I walked by with my camera; an opportunity not to miss.

This window is part of the Egyptian House in Penzance, Cornwall, UK. In 1834 John Lavin, a bookseller of Penzance bought two cottages in Chapel Street for £396 and proceeded to raise the height of the building and to add to its street front the present remarkable pseudo-Egyptian facade. The Royal Arms on the building suggest that it was complete before the accession of Queen Victoria in June 1837. John Lavin sold maps, guides and stationery in the Egyptian House, but his main business was in minerals which he bought, sold and exhibited here. Today the first floor is a holiday appartment.

Clevedon Pier is one of the jewels of Victorian architecture - the sea of the Bristol Channel unfortunately is never blue but always some sort of dirt brownish color. That day a storm was approaching and the sea suddenly became this strange caramel brown which created a nice contrast with the dark sky and the bright green of the metal railing.

(Nikon D5200; lens: AF-S Nikkor 55-300mm) Xia'he in the Western province of Gansu in China is home of one of the most important Tibetan monasteries outside Tibet; this impressive complex of buildings is surrounded by covered alleys with rows and rows of prayers wheels which the Tibetan pilgrims turn at all hours of the day walking clockwise around the monastery.

Nikon D5200; les: AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm The Bridgwater and Taunton Canal is a canal in the south-west of England between Bridgwater and Taunton, opened in 1827 and linking the River Tone to the River Parrett. It is also home to an installation termed the 'Somerset Space Walk', a scale model (530 million:1) of the Solar System centred around the 'Sun' at Maunsel lock with the planets located along the towpath in both directions. The Space Walk was designed by local man, Pip Youngman, in order to demonstrate the scale of the Solar System in an interactive way. The trail can be walked either from Taunton's Brewhouse Theatre to Maunsel Lock (Pluto to the Sun) or from Bridgwater's Morrison's Supermarket to Maunsel Lock (also Pluto to the Sun...
