The Pala group (Italian: Pale di San Martino, Dolomiti delle Pale or Gruppo delle Pale) is a mountain range in the Dolomites, in the eastern Trentino and part of the province of Belluno, northern Italy. They cover an area of c. 240 km² between the Primiero, Valle del Biois and Agordino. They include a large plateau (altopiano delle Pale), spanning for some 50 km² between 2,500 and 2,800 m, an empty rocky extent. Geologically, they are composed of dolostone.

Cristallo is a mountain in the Italian Dolomites, northeast of Cortina d'Ampezzo, in the province of Belluno, Veneto, northern Italy. It is a long, indented ridge with four summits higher than 3,000 metres. The highest peaks of the Cristallo massif are Monte Cristallo (3,221 m), Piz Popena (3,153 m), Cima di Mezzo (3,154 m), and Cristallino d'Ampezzo (3,008 m). Cima di Mezzo and Cristallino d'Ampezzo can be reached by via ferratas, while Monte Cristallo and Piz Popena both require climbing skills.

San Vito is a small fraction of Braies in Alta Pusteria in the Dolomites in north Italy. Main cultural attraction of San Vito in Braies is the beautiful parish church in Gothic style, which was built in the mid-fourteenth century. Around the church is the cemetery, where also rest a few celebrities, as the pioneer of the Dolomites Viktor Wolf von Glanvell. San Vito is located along the road leading to Lake Braies, which is the real jewel of the town.

The Schlern is a mountain of the Dolomites in South Tyrol, Italy. The peak at the north west end of the mountain (left, in the image at right) was first ascended in July 1880 by Johann Santner. It is named the Santner Spitze in his honour. The Schlern dominates the villages of Seis am Schlern and Völs am Schlern, and the summit can be reached following the circular route marked with the number 1 from both villages. At 1,700 metres (5,577 ft), there is the Schlernboden inn and on the summit plateau is the Schlernhaus inn 2,457 metres (8,061 ft), both open from 1 June to 15 October. It consists of a range of hills and woods among villages and includes the comuni of Asciano, Buonconvento, Monteroni d'Arbia, Rapolano Terme and San Giovanni d'Asso, all within the province of Siena. Crete senesi are literally ‘Senese clays’, and the distinctive grey colouration of the soil gives the landscape an appearance often described as lunar.
