Its long tail and head create a kind of cross. The bird is realistically drawn with some drawing elements such as contouring with a chalk brush, which give the whole thing something playful. This drawing was made using a photo as an example. The photo I take is of my parakeet Pixie who was my pet. The photo was unfortunately out of focus but I really liked the pose. This way, I still made a nice work of art out of it.

They can often be found near the water, where they are looking for food. They eat fish but also insects. A hunting kingfisher often sits on a branch near the water as in the drawing. I think kingfishers are fantastic birds. So beautiful in colour and so cute and small. With their big bright eyes, they can look so sweet. Spotting one always makes me happy.
