Description: Giraffes are the shortest sleeping animals on Earth. On average the long-necked mammals fit about 4 hours of sleep time into a 24 hour period (and slightly less in the wild). A giraffe has to rely on its awareness of the surroundings to survive. Giraffes struggle to get up after lying down so they try to avoid this unnecessary risk in the wild. I'm trying to imagine what if this happens to a human in his or her life? Someone who has insomnia or always need to stay conscious in his or her life to beware of danger. What a pathetic life!

Description: Dolphins have to remain conscious even when they are sleeping. They have to actively decide when to breathe, and so they must be continually conscious to breathe. If they have a deep unconscious sleep, they would stop breathing and suffocate or drown.
