Description: Anomalocaris ("unusual shrimp") is a genus of Anomalocarida, a group of extinct, marine, invertebrate animals with no fixed systematic classification, possibly related to the arthropods (Arthropoda). Anomalocaris was the largest animal known from that time in the Early and Middle Cambrian Period (530 to 501 million years ago), with a length of between 60 and 120 centimeters.
