I saw it then in the dim corridor, its presence unexpected and somehow unknowable as my intellect had no peg to put this form on, no slot to classify it, no rationale to make this acceptable. It was an abomination of all that was right and true and its very existence left me in a cold shock. It turned then, a face I think but still could not make sense, and it approached. Slowly, without sound of footfall. Without sound of breath. Without sound of heatbeat, excepting my own, small bird beating at the cage to escape.

Lower and lower went her head as the lips went below the range of my mouth and chin and seemed to fasten on my throat. I could feel the soft, shivering touch of the lips on the supersensitive skin of my throat, and the hard dents of two sharp teeth, just touching and pausing there. I closed my eyes in a languo...
