The Tampa Bay Thrillers were a franchise in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) from 1984–1987. They won back-to-back championships in 1984–85 and 1985–86. At the end of the 1986–87 CBA regular season the team relocated to Rapid City, South Dakota, and went on to win a third consecutive CBA title.

The franchise was established in 1961 as the Chicago Packers based in Chicago, Illinois, and was renamed to Chicago Zephyrs the following season. In 1963, they relocated to Baltimore, Maryland, and became the Baltimore Bullets, taking the name from a previous team of the same name. The Bullets' name was revived in 1963 when the former Chicago Zephyrs relocated to Baltimore; even after these Bullets relocated to Washington in 1973, they kept their name for 24 more years until they were renamed the Wizards.

The Pittsburgh Condors were a professional basketball team in the original American Basketball Association from 1971-72. Originally called the Pittsburgh Pipers, they were a charter franchise of the ABA and captured the first league title in 1968. The team played their home games in Pittsburgh's Civic Arena. The team was dispersed in 1972. Pittsburgh was not big enough to support all four major league sports.

Classic Utah Stars 1971
The Kentucky Colonels finally won a national championship in the ABA in 1975. Coach Hubie Brown said it was the greatest team he ever coached. Greats like Artis Gilmore, Louie Dampier and Dan Issel. The Colonels won the most games and had the highest winning percentage of any franchise in the league's history. The team joined the NBA in the 1976 ABA–NBA merger.

The Miami Floridians, later in their history known simply as The Floridians, were a professional basketball franchise in the original, now-defunct American Basketball Association. The Miami Floridians played in the ABA from 1968 through 1970 when they became simply The Floridians and played through the 1972 season. The team had two color schemes: their original red, blue, and white, and their later black, magenta, and orange. The Floridians began as the Minnesota Muskies, a charter ABA franchise who played in Bloomington, Minnesota. Show some Miami pride.

It began on March 9 and ended with the championship game on March 26 in Salt Lake City. Michigan State, led by Magic Johnson, won the national title with a 75–64 victory in the final game over Indiana State, led by Larry Bird. Indiana State came into the game undefeated, but couldn't extend their winning streak. Magic Johnson was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. Both players were drafted into the NBA and played in the next fall.

The Utah Stars were an American Basketball Association (ABA) team based in Salt Lake City, Utah from 1970 to 1976. The team was founded as the Anaheim Amigos, a charter member of the ABA based in Anaheim, California in 1967. The Amigos were moved to Los Angeles to become the Stars for the 1968 season. After two seasons in LA, competing with the Lakers for attention and dollars, the team was sold and moved to Salt Lake. The Stars are considered one of the most successful teams in ABA history. They were also known for having some of the best fan support in the ABA. From 1970–1975, the Stars went 265-171 (.608), which was the best winning percentage of any team that played more than one season in the league.

The Virginia Squires was a basketball team based in Norfolk, Virginia, and playing in several other Virginia cities. They were members of the American Basketball Association from 1970 to 1976. The team originated in 1967 as the Oakland Oaks, an ABA charter franchise based in Oakland, California. They moved to Washington, D.C. as the Washington Caps in 1969 but moved to Norfolk the following year, becoming the Squires. A regional team, they played home games in Richmond, Hampton, and Roanoke as well as Norfolk. The team folded in 1976, just a month before the ABA–NBA merger.Show your hometown pride

The Baltimore Claws was an American basketball team which was supposed to appear in the 1975–76 season in the American Basketball Association. The team collapsed before the season started, playing only three exhibition games, all losses, in its brief history. The team that eventually became the Baltimore Claws had earlier competed in the ABA as the New Orleans Buccaneers from 1967 through 1970, as the Memphis Pros from 1970 through 1972, as the Memphis Tams from 1972 through 1974 and as the Memphis Sounds during the 1974–75 season.

The Spirits were born in the summer of 1974 after the owners of the Carolina Cougars sold the franchise to several New York businessmen who promptly moved the team to St. Louis and named them the Spirits. The team played two seasons before the ABA merged with the NBA and the franchise did not survive.

The Hazleton Bullets were a team in the Eastern Basketball Association in the 1972 season. The team started the season in Hamburg, Pennsylvania, and moved back before the end of the season. It was a tough season as the Bullets ended with a record of 4W - 26L. The team moved back to Hazleton and played there four seasons before moving to Jersey Shore in the 1976 season.
