Description: This predatory fish is found in the Amazon, Orinoco, and Río de la Plata Basins, as well as rivers of the Guianas. It occurs in a wide range of freshwater habitats such as main river channels, flooded forests, lakes and reservoirs. reportedly can reach up to 80 cm (2.6 ft) in standard length, the largest confirmed were 63–64 cm (2.07–2.10 ft).
Description: It is a member of the Characida family and they are native to the upper Amazon River basin in Peru and Bolivia in South America. Description: It is also known as the Mekong giant salmon carp,and is a member of the Carp family. It is endemic to the middle reaches of the Mekong River in northern Cambodia, Laos and Thailand. Its population is much reduced as a result of over fishing and habitat degradation, and it is now considered Critically Endangered. It can reach a length of 130 centimeters (51 in) and weight of 30 kilograms (66 lb).

It can live in both salt and freshwater and can be found in freshwater rivers, lakes and ponds. They can can grow to 1.80 m (5 ft 11 in), but are most often no more than 1 m (39 in) in length. They can reach a weight of about 14 kg (31 lb).

It is known for its aggressive nature, and presence in warm, shallow brackish and freshwater systems including estuaries and rivers. They can thrive in both salt and fresh water and can travel far up rivers. They have been sighted and caught in many rivers , such as the Mekong, Mississippi and the Amazon. The species has been spotted 2,500 miles (4,000 kilometers) up the Amazon River in South America and dwell in Lake Nicaragua, a freshwater lake in Central America. It can reach a maximum size of 3.5 m (11 ft).
Description: Also known as the paroon shark, pangasid-catfish or Chao Phraya giant catfish is a species of freshwater fish in the shark catfish family. It is native to the Chao Phraya and Mekong basins in Indochina. Its populations have declined drastically, mainly due to over fishing, and it is now considered critically endangered.
