Description: The invoice is on the desk, and anybody can read it. Payment due: $0.00. Overdue 30 days. No payment received. The little shop on the screen owes nothing. It sells candles and scarves and mugs with smiles on them, it offers free shipping, and its cart sits at zero because it is new and small and trying. None of that is entered as evidence. The henchman does not read invoices. The henchman reads lists, and the shop is on the list, and his hand is already coming down on the lever marked DOWN. That is the whole improvement the new racket made over the old one. The old one at least sent a man who could be argued with, bribed, shamed, or once in a while beaten to the door. The new one sends a process. The lever does not hate the shop.
