Description: A candid shot of some lovely ladies taking a break from the summer heat in Siena, Tuscany, Italy. It was indeed hot too and I was taking a short break in the shade myself when I spotted these ladies. Only one spotted me taking the shot but I think it adds to the image. I treated the image to a bit of digital effects. Hope you like it.

Description: Sunset over Gosbecks Archaeological Park, Colchester. Situated on land formerly part of Gosbecks Farm, the Archaeological Park is recognised as one of the most significant Iron-Age and Roman sites in the country. Excavations in the fields surrounding the farm (probably named after the 13th century land owner, Rodger de Gosebek) began n the 19th century with the discovery of a Roman temple by an amateur archaeologist, the Revernd Henry Jenkins. However the true scale of the site wasn't known until archaeologists examined aerial photographs of the area in the 1930's. Description: 485m up in Wharfedale, Simon's Seat can reached by a rewarding walk from nearby Bolton Abbey. It offers views across to Skipton. he climb is well worth it as you walk through the scenic valley of desolation on to Barden Fell. At the highest point you reach Simon's Seat. It is a place that offers splendid views of the surrounding area on a clear day. After taking lunch here you can then look forward to descending to Parceval Hall and magnificent Troller's Gill. This is followed by a pleasant walk over to Appletreewick before continuing along the banks of the River Wharfe. Description: Illgill Head Illgill Head is a fell in the English Lake District. It is known more commonly as the northern portion of the Wastwater Screes. The fell is 609 metres high and stands along the south-east shore of Wast Water, the deepest lake in England. I took this on our descent off the peak back to the car park.
Description: Taken on slide film and scanned. Tandle Hill Country Park is a country park in Royton, Greater Manchester, England. It consists of approximately 110 acres (45 ha), a combination of beech woodland and open grassland. The park contains a countryside centre (opened in 1994), picnic areas, children’s play area and numerous trails and paths into the surrounding area. Two countryside rangers are based at the countryside centre. In fine weather conditions, it offers views of Manchester and the Welsh mountains. I grew up in Royton (was born there in fact) and spent much of my childhood and teens playing there, exploring, camping, sledging etc. Also dated my first girl-friends there too!
Description: Looking from the Lands End complex area towards Whitesand Bay, a wide sandy beach in west Cornwall, United Kingdom. It stretches for one mile north from Sennen Cove. Whitesand Bay beach is popular with surfers. There are toilet facilities and two car parks, one in a large field and another beside the beach. Dogs are banned on the beach from Easter Day to 1 October. The South West Coast Path runs along the dunes behind the beach. The bay lends its name to the Bay class frigate HMS Whitesand Bay. Perkin Warbeck landed here at the start of the Second Cornish Uprising of 1497.

It is 5 miles (8 km) south-west of Colchester near the village of Layer de la Haye. Its geographical coordinates are 51°49.2′N 00°51.6′E (grid reference TL976182). It is a large, shallow, freshwater storage reservoir and is the largest freshwater body in Essex. The reservoir contains around 25,000 Megalitres. It is a pumped storage reservoir. This means water is pumped from the rivers Chelmer, Blackwater and Stour to fill it, rather than simply relying on rainfall in the limited catchment area. Description: Taken one summer in the country lanes of East Anglia where we live. They look as if they truly belong together. Poppies are symbolic of sacrifice, something that all of us are aware of in these times with wars, rumours of wars and lives given up on behalf of the innocents. Hopefully (though probably wishful thinking, I know) we might soon have less needless sacrifices to remember and have more to celebrate about life, rather than death. Description: Taken near Lenwade in Norfolk. We used to live on the western edge of Norwich and often go to Lenwade for walks around the filled gravel pits, now turned into nature reserves. Origonal taken on Velvia slide film if I recall and later scanned into Photoshop for correction of levels/curves and some clean-up of dust etc. Probably not the best scan I have made as it was with an old Polaroid scanner. perhaps I'll find the time to do it again on my Canon scanner that can scan slides quite well. Description: Actually, its a sculpture made from waste and its at The Eden Project! However, there is a lesson in it for all of us... that our waste will devour us all one day unless we learn to live more frugally. How to do this is something I don't have all the answers to, but unless we all try together then our Garden of Eden will become a wasteland. I decided some Photoshop work would make the monster more frightening... hope I succeeded!
Description: Taken years ago (more like decades!) of two friends as teenagers running towards the sea on summer. As the original was on slide film it needed some cleaning up so I decided to go a bit further and turn it into a dreamlike clip from a movie to reflect that it bring backs memories that more like a dream recollected in the morning. Location was on the east coast near Skipsea, East Riding of Yorkshire.
