Additive Synthesis Merch

Description: Four odd harmonics written like a column addition, and under the line their sum: a square wave with its little ripples. For synth and math lovers.

Description: Rendered on a deep dark background, this artwork presents four sine harmonics stacked above a square wave rebuilt from their sum, with the series f(x) = 4/π Σ sin(nx)/n for n = 1, 3, 5, 7. In 1822 Joseph Fourier showed that any periodic signal can be written as a sum of sines and cosines. Fourier analysis now underpins audio, image compression, telecommunications and much of modern engineering. Made for engineers, inventors and anyone who loves to understand how things work, it suits a workshop, office or study.
