This was a case of being at the right place at the right time. Beautiful morning. Loved the rickety fence and the broken roof. This has been repaired several times since 1985 and the fence is no longer 'rickety'.

A photo taken in Paisley after it had been raining. I loved the wet cobbles glinting in the light.

This was from a photo I took of my Dad years ago. I just love the image as it has the family farm in the background.

This is a watercolour of a friend of mine walking her dog. The yellow in the distance was very vivid and striking. I just had to capture it in a painting. Happy memories of a warm summers day.

This was a building on Basque Road, Auckland, New Zealand in 2007. I just loved the traffic cone and the run down appearance of the building.

This was done to try and convey the feeling of being trapped within your home due to the onset of old age. Many elderly people must look outside their windows and yearn for the freedom to walk out into the fresh air and sunshine.

Pompeii is such a fascinating place. I just loved this wall with the hint of a garden through the gaps.

A lovely little hill that used to be a Hill Fort many years ago. Close to where I was originally brought up and very close to my heart.

I took this photo from my flat at Gourock in the mid eighties. What a view.

This was a watercolour from references I took at The Sanctuary of Aphrodite in Cyprus. I just love the stonework and the reflections of light on the cobbles. Great fun to paint.

From references I took whilst visiting the lovely little town of Pittenween up on the East Coast of Scotland. I wasn't expecting the snow, but got some great images to work from. So it was an unexpected bonus.

This is a watercolour painting of boats at the lovely little coastal village of Pittenweem. It's situated up the East Coast of Scotland just south of St. Andrews.

A painting of my son fishing from one of the Islands at Mossyard, our favourite holiday destination. Campsite near to Gatehouse of Fleet in Scotland.

I mainly take photos as references for future painting, but just loved how this looked when turned to monochrome. The crows just gave the image some extra drama. Happy accident.

This is Millport Pier, a lovely little village in the West of Scotland.

Law Hill is near to the village of Quothquan where my Dad had his farm. This little hill used to be a hill fort many years ago, hence the shape. Lovely and very picturesque.

Watercolour From references I took of Burn Braes in Biggar, Lanarkshire. I really loved the wonky fence and the fact that the roof slates were falling off the roof. The roof has long since been repaired (as has the fence).

I love this type of subject and enjoyed getting the detail and textures of the bricks and rendering. The sign used to advertise a Public House called 'The Bowler's Tavern'. The sign really has seen better days.
