Description: M-Tex Oil is a fictional petroleum company meant to represent one of the biggest companies in the Texan oil industry. Founded during the '80s energy crisis to take advantage of domestic oil production, M-Tex takes center stage in the TV drama, Landman. The series follows Tommy Norris in the titular role as the guy who interacts and negotiates directly with landowners to acquire leases for the exploration and development of minerals or other energy sources on behalf of M-Tex.
Description: This thrifted gem came to us from Baton Rouge, Louisiana and appears to be a crew shirt from an underwater pipeline operation, specifically on Barge 207. A little research revealed that Barge 207 was designed and built in 1958 as one of the first dedicated lay barge underwater pipeline platforms, and is apparently still owned and operated by the Brown & Root company. So whether you’re in the underwater pipeline field or just want to impress women by telling them that you are, Barge 207 is the one for you!
Description: The Northwest Refining Company from Cut Bank opened a new bulk plant in Shelby Montana, featuring Grizzly gasoline, which is widely accepted by motorists in northern Montana, and is made entirely from Montana crude oil. Location of the new plant is south of the railroad tracks, directly across from the Sullivan Hotel. A. J. Wilcox is the distributor of the gasoline. This company was sold to Carter Oil a subsidiary of Standard Oil Co. of New Jersey in 1944.
Description: Seven Sisters Petroleum was an oil corporation in Mad Max and Mad Max 2 that was based off the real-life group of oil companies that existed to from the 1940s to the 1970s which comprised of Anglo-Cat Oil Company (now BP); Gulf Oil, Standard Oil of California (now Chevron), Texaco (later merged with Chevron); Royal Dutch Shell; Standard Oil of New Jersey (Esso/Exxon)and Standard Oil Company of New York (Socony) (trading as Mobil now part of ExxonMobil). If the logo looks familiar, it shows up several times in the films, most notably on the fuel tanker from Mad Max 2.

Description: Homer Johnson held a job with the Indian Oil Company as the treasurer and ended up in Lawrenceville, Illinois, where he and his brothers began the process of starting up Johnson Oil. For $6,000,000, Gaseteria Oil Company purchased Johnson Oil Company in 1956. The Illinois and Michigan stations were converted to the Gaseteria or Bonded Brand, and the Oklahoma assets were sold off to Deep Rock. In 1957, Russell Williams, the owner of Gaseteria was killed in a plane crash. This tragic turn of events forced the sell of Gaseteria to Standard's Oklahoma Oil Company Division where the stations were then branded Oklahoma. In 1960, the stations were finally branded Enco under Standard Oil of New Jersey.
Description: Goldsmith is a sleepy little town about 20 miles west of Odessa, Texas. Sitting at the intersection of State Highway 158 and Farm Road 856, in northwestern Ector County, the town grew with the Permian Basin oil field. By 1937 Goldsmith had churches, a post office, a grocery store, a restaurant, and a rooming house, but the town would have to wait another four decades before they had a bar. Tony's Tavern set up shop in 1978, and while a town of just 240 residents may not seem like an ideal place for a bar, Tony was counting on oil field workers and support crews coming and going through town, wanting a place to grab a cold one. Apparently it worked, as Tony's was in business for 35 years, and even became a favorite spot for locals.
Description: Ewing Oil Company is a fictional petroleum conglomerate from the television series Dallas, whose corporate offices are were located in Dallas, Texas. Jock Ewing founded Ewing Oil in 1930 and ran it until 1977, when he retired. Several years prior to the debut of Dallas, J.R. Ewing had returned home to Southfork Ranch after serving in Vietnam and became Vice-President of Ewing Oil. When Jock retired, J.R. became president. Bobby Ewing returned to Dallas and joined the executive management team. J.R. resented his presence and wanted him out of the way. Things came to a head at the end of 1978, when Bobby resigned and started up Ewing Construction.
