Seven Sisters Petroleum was an oil corporation in Mad Max and Mad Max 2 that was based off the real-life group of oil companies that existed to from the 1940s to the 1970s which comprised of Anglo-Cat Oil Company (now BP); Gulf Oil, Standard Oil of California (now Chevron), Texaco (later merged with Chevron); Royal Dutch Shell; Standard Oil of New Jersey (Esso/Exxon)and Standard Oil Company of New York (Socony) (trading as Mobil now part of ExxonMobil). If the logo looks familiar, it shows up several times in the films, most notably on the fuel tanker from Mad Max 2.

Bruin Pennsylvania Petroleum Products was founded in the early 1920s in Bruin, Pennsylvania. Doing business as 'Butler County Oil Refining Company,' Bruin produced Bruinoil brand motor oils and Bruin brand gasoline, referring to them as "The Bear of Them All." Located between the railroad line and what is now Route 268, the Bruin refinery was a massive facility that employed many Pennsylvanians during its run. And like most early petroleum manufacturing facilities, the location was eventually designated as the number 3 toxic waste site (The Bruin Lagoon) on the EPA's SuperFund list.

The "Amoco" lead-free gasoline was sold at American's stations in the eastern and southern U.S. alongside American Regular gasoline, which was a leaded fuel. Lead-free Amoco was introduced in the Indiana Standard marketing area in 1970. The Red Crown Regular and White Crown Premium (later Gold Crown Super Premium) gasolines marketed by parent company Standard Oil (Indiana) in its prime marketing area in the Midwest before 1961 also contained lead.

This thrifted gem came to us from Baton Rouge, Louisiana and appears to be a crew shirt from an underwater pipeline operation, specifically on Barge 207. A little research revealed that Barge 207 was designed and built in 1958 as one of the first dedicated lay barge underwater pipeline platforms, and is apparently still owned and operated by the Brown & Root company. So whether you’re in the underwater pipeline field or just want to impress women by telling them that you are, Barge 207 is the one for you!

Conoco Inc. is a defunct American oil company founded by Isaac Elder Blake in 1875 as the Continental Oil and Transportation Company. It is now a brand of gasoline and service station in the United States which belongs to Phillips 66 following the spin-off of ConocoPhillips' downstream assets in May 2012.

The Northwest Refining Company from Cut Bank opened a new bulk plant in Shelby Montana, featuring Grizzly gasoline, which is widely accepted by motorists in northern Montana, and is made entirely from Montana crude oil. Location of the new plant is south of the railroad tracks, directly across from the Sullivan Hotel. A. J. Wilcox is the distributor of the gasoline. This company was sold to Carter Oil a subsidiary of Standard Oil Co. of New Jersey in 1944.

Amoco began in 1889 as Standard Oil of Indiana, John D. Rockefeller's company. By 1912 it was known as Amoco. In 1998 Amoco and BP merged.

John and Luke Hancock started the Pure Oil of Minneapolis in the early 1900's. They sold out to The Pure Oil Company of Ohio in 1920. Luke Hancock continued to work for Pure Oil, and John Hancock started the Hancock Oil Company in Minneapolis. John Hancock died in 1929, at which time the Minneapolis Hancock Oil stations were sold to Phillips.

Atlantic was founded as the Atlantic Petroleum Storage Company in 1866 in the then-fledgling oil business. In 1874, the company, now known as Atlantic Refining, was purchased by John D. Rockefeller and integrated as part of Standard Oil. The acquisition gave Rockefeller a major presence on the East Coast in his growing empire. In 1886, after acquiring many other oil companies, the Standard Oil Trust organized territories for their companies. Atlantic's territory covered the entire state of Delaware, the southern half of New Jersey, and the southeasternmost corner of Pennsylvania, essentially giving Atlantic the entire Philadelphia area.

During September 1919, Harry Sinclair restructured Sinclair Oil and Refining Corporation, Sinclair Gulf Corporation, and 26 other related entities into Sinclair Consolidated Oil Corporation. In 1932, this new entity was renamed Consolidated Oil Corporation. In 1943, it was renamed Sinclair Oil Corporation. Near the beginning of the Great Depression, Sinclair sold the remaining interest in its pipeline subsidiary to Standard Oil Company (Indiana) for US$72.5 million (Standard Oil had purchased a 50% interest in the pipeline subsidiary in 1921). With these funds, including an additional US$33.5 million from an additional common stock issue, Sinclair retired several promissory notes and prepared to weather the Depression.

Deepwater Horizon was an ultra-deepwater, dynamically positioned, semi-submersible offshore drilling rig owned by Transocean and operated by BP. On 20 April 2010, while drilling at the Macondo Prospect, a blowout caused an explosion on the rig that killed 11 crewmen and ignited a fireball visible from 40 miles (64 km) away. The fire was inextinguishable and, two days later, on 22 April, the Horizon sank, leaving the well gushing at the seabed and causing the largest marine oil spill in history.

Founded in Houston in 1958, Longhorn Supply Co. kept countless Texas oil fields and manufacturing operations stocked with industrial supplies. From their warehouse at 3130 Navigation Blvd., Longhorn Supply Co. dispatched trucks daily carrying everything from wellbore bits and drill pipe to trash pumps and rigging equipment to customers throughout Texas.

Chemical engineering is a branch of engineering that uses principles of chemistry, physics, mathematics, biology and economics to efficiently use, produce, design, transport and transform energy and materials. The work of chemical engineers can range from the utilization of nanotechnology and nanomaterials in the laboratory, to large-scale industrial processes that convert chemicals, raw materials, living cells, microorganisms and energy into useful forms and products (Wikipedia). Homer Johnson held a job with the Indian Oil Company as the treasurer and ended up in Lawrenceville, Illinois, where he and his brothers began the process of starting up Johnson Oil. For $6,000,000, Gaseteria Oil Company purchased Johnson Oil Company in 1956. The Illinois and Michigan stations were converted to the Gaseteria or Bonded Brand, and the Oklahoma assets were sold off to Deep Rock. In 1957, Russell Williams, the owner of Gaseteria was killed in a plane crash. This tragic turn of events forced the sell of Gaseteria to Standard's Oklahoma Oil Company Division where the stations were then branded Oklahoma. In 1960, the stations were finally branded Enco under Standard Oil of New Jersey.
