Description: British Army Air Corps Lynx Helicopter. In 1972, the lynx was the fastest helicopter braking the world speed record over 15 and 25 km by flying at 321.74 km/h (199.9 mph). This has now been surpassed, but still an incredible speed for a helicopter!

Description: The Westland Wyvern was a British single-seat carrier-based attack aircraft of the 1950s intended to cover a wide variety of roles. Apart from the cannons, rockets, and bombs usually carried by such aircraft, the Wyvern was unusual in that it could also carry a torpedo long after it ceased being normal armament on other contemporary aircraft. Another unusual feature was its contra-rotating propellers.

The photograph shows a landing Westland Wessex helicopter in the foreground of another chopper. This is one of many photo's that were taken by my father whilst he served on HMS Hermes in the 1960s.
