Discovered a new technique in GIMP to create the background here, combining gradient "blinds" spiral that was made into diagonal linear bars using Polar Coordinates distort (in reverse), then rotated it until it was 45 degrees from horizontal, then saved a single quadrant which was duplicated then mirrored both vertically and then horizontally.
