The most famous COLOUR CUBE must be the Rubik Cube. Ernõ Rubik, a professor from Budapest In Hungary, wanted to help his students understand three-dimensional problems. His solution? The Rubik’s Cube! Ernõ creates the first working prototype of the cube in 1974. Ernõ's prototype cube did things that the world hadn't seen before. It twisted and turned yet it didn’t break. Adding 54 colourful stickers to the six sides gave the puzzle its iconic look. When Ernõ Rubik built his first Cube, it took him over a month to solve it. At that time, he didn’t know that his “Magic Cube” – “Buvos Kocka” in Hungarian - would take the world by storm.

On 21 October 1805, the Royal Navy clashed with the Combined French and Spanish fleet at Cape Trafalgar, off the coast of Spain. The victory had massive repercussions for Napoleon's France and the future of the shape of Europe for centuries to come. An historic event commemorated in central London by Nelson Column in Trafalgar Square. Much visited by millions of tourists each year.

The waters of the Greek islands are amazingly clear allowing views deep into the waters. In shallows the sea bed can be seen with hints of life below. The calmness is stirred by the inter-island ferry services that are the life-blood of these islands. Prime viewing position at the stern of the Blue Star Ferry as it leaves Santorini bound for Nexus. No one image can fully capture the movement, colour variations of this brief phase on the sea crossing which changes once deep-water is encountered. The set of 8 shown forms a carefully crafted panel.

When taking this "straight shot" of a male youth sheepishly using a spray can to daub the popular skate board area on the South Bank, London I felt it needed a strong frame as though boxing the image "in". This frame work came from shots taken earlier in the day at the Tate Modern gallery, housed as it is, inside a redundant power-station.

I confess to not fully enjoying the shopping experience. Especially the "just looking for shoes or hand-bag" sort of aimless shopping. There are opportunities for image taking and even image making whilst shopping. These opportunities I salute.

Only in OLYMPIC year do we see much dressage on our TV's a very technical sport where horse and rider perform as "one". Intricate "balletic" moves and steps appear effortless. Mixing gracefulness and power; control and teamwork.

It was a hard life being a mill worker and conditions in Manchester and Leeds were harsh with poor health resulting from industrial pollution. CHILDREN were routinely employed as they were small and nimble. Titus Salt planned and built a new village to demonstrate what could be done to keep skilled and unskilled workers fit and healthy. Before Saltaire new "town"... Salt's 3,500 workers travelled to Saltaire from Bradford. However, during the next few years, 850 houses were built for his workers. Saltaire also had its own park, church, school, hospital, library and a whole range of different shops. The houses in Saltaire were far superior to those available in Bradford and other industrial towns. Fresh water was piped into each home...

PRIMARY - A set of primary colors is, most tangibly, a set of real colorants or colored lights that can be combined in varying amounts to produce many other colours. The set of red, yellow, blue is popular among artists.

RED BUTTON.... you don't press this, no matter how red or shiny it looks. ...but it is tempting is it not? It may only set our set-top box to record a TV show or start a nuclear event! How would we feel faced with MANY RED BUTTONS? See my image.

The classical guitar is a member of the guitar family used in classical music. It is an acoustic wooden guitar with strings made of gut or nylon, rather than the metal strings used in acoustic and electric guitars. Spanish guitar shape is distinctive. It is regularly used by cubist artists as well as classical art such as Paul Gauguin. The Old Guitarist is an oil painting by Pablo Picasso created late 1903 – early 1904, painted before is search for fame led to the recognizable PICASSO style.

The silhouette of Chaplin is small in the frame and dwarfed by the much larger and complex mural - but the distinctive pose of the great silent actor, still holds the viewer eye. When a boy, I did see Charlie Chaplin in his home in Switzerland. He was in his 90's then, but nice to be able to tell the children that I saw him .... to which the reply is usually ... "who"!

Istanbul is a world famous city straddling EUROPE an ASIA. Its Old City reflects cultural influences of the many empires that once ruled here. In the Sultanahmet district, the open-air, Roman-era Hippodrome was for centuries the site of chariot races, and Egyptian obelisks also remain. The iconic Byzantine Hagia Sophia features a soaring 6th-century dome and rare Christian mosaics. it has a population of over 15 million people. It is a WORKING CITY

I was challenged by a friend to spend 1 whole year taking photographs of pink objects. it was a tough challenge but I am grateful to the friend for forcing me to OPEN my EYES to PINK.

THREE... important in art, theatre and literature (The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas). In my youth there was a largely forgotten TV series called "Take THREE Girls" 3 flatmates living in London with a more memorable classic theme tune. Pentangle - Light Flight ('Take Three Girls' TV Theme 1969). I can stil hum it today. Lyrics Let's get away, you say, find a better place, Miles and miles away from the city's race etc... I guess the ultimate "get away from it all " is to become a NUN. Surreal inspiration for this image stems from this era.
