A landing stage on the River Thames at Marlow just above the weir and lock. Marlow is a beautiful old Georgian town in Buckinghamshire which sits on the north bank of the Thames. A fine suspension brisge links the town to Berkshire on the southern bank. This stretch of the river is famous for rowing, the club here producing Olympic champions such as Sir Steve Redgrave, Past residents of Marlow have included Jerome K Jerome, Mary Shelley and TS Elliot.

A floating landing stage on a sailing lake in Berkshire. There were once a number of gravel pits in this area, all of which are now filled with water and have fresh uses such as nature reserves or, like this one, for water sports. Landing stage on the Weser, Brake, district of Wesermarsch

An impressionist oil painting style image of the sun setting over a lake. Here we are by a small landing stage or fishing place looking west towards the setting sun which is casting a golden glow over the water. Looks as if it will be a fine day tomorrow too!

This is also the model for the Szechenyl Chain Bridge over the River Danube in Budapest. Next to the bridge is the Compleat Angler Hotel. This stretch of river is famous for rowing, having produced Olympic champions such as Sir Steve Redgrave.

The end of the pier at Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. This very elegant pier was opened in 1895, allowing pleasure boats to moor and replacing an earlier landing stage which was wheeled in and out of the sea. Today boats still take on passengers here, including the PS "Waverley", the last of the paddle steamers. In recent years restoration of the Pavilion has been completed. A wooden jetty on the bank of the the River Itchen at Winchester, Hampshire. In the background are the grounds and cricket pitches of the prestigious Winchester College founded by William of Wykeham in 1382 - hence the boys there being known as Wykehamists. The Itchen is one of Britain's beautiful and precious chalk streams - famous for theor clear waters and abundance of wildlife. The image is finished in the style of a coloured pencil drawing.

The 750 foot long pier has had its share of collisions by ships! In 1947 a Canadian cargo ship caused considerable damage as did a pleasure steamer in 1966 (in dense fog this time!). Following restoration in 1994 and 1996 the pier reopened in 1998. In 2014 it was voted 'Pier of the Year'.

Looking over Derwentwater towards the town of Keswick on a summer afternoon. Behind the town rise with the slopes of Skiddaw. The lake is surrounded by magnificent fells and, as a result, the area is popular with walkers. Here pleasure boats tie up and take on passengers for tours of the lake which is 3 miles long, a mile wide - and 72 feet deep! The image has been textured to simulate an impressionist style painting.

A view across Ullswater towards Silver Crag and the Cumbrian Mountains from the landing stages at Glenridding on the western shore of the Lake. A rare, particularly sunny Spring day with blue skies makes it a sight to enjoy.
