RAF Roundel used with Type A1 during WW2 but on light surfaces, primarily under the wings of fighters until replaced by Type C in June 1942

Roundel had an outer yellow ring which was thicker than used during WW1. Alternative to A.1 on some aircraft 1940 – 1942, including the Grumman Martlet as received from the factory, indicating that it was likely official despite the lack of orders describing it.

Used after late 1929 when colours were increased in saturation until replaced by Type B during summer 1938.

Low-visibility roundel used on camouflaged aircraft since the 1970s.

Low-visibility roundel used on the Lockheed Martin Lightning 2, with the centre being the same grey as the airframe.

Used on fuselage sides of some night-flying aircraft (bombers, e.g. Vickers Wellington; night fighters, e.g., Boulton Paul Defiant) late 1940 – mid-1942.

The Hawker Siddeley Harrier is a British military aircraft. It was the first of the Harrier Jump Jet series of aircraft and was developed in the 1960s.

With the iconic British Air Force insignia emblazoned across the chest, you can show off your admiration for one of the world's most iconic and respected air forces.

This is the RAF roundel Type D, which has been placed on all aircraft surfaces from June 1947 to this day.

Spitfire Mk.IX, 5J-K, Pilot Johnny Plagis. Johnny Plagis took command of No. 126 (Cat Gulf) Squadron in June 1944. He chose 5J-K because of the large letter “K” on its tail after his sister ‘Kay’ (Katrina) which was also painted on the port side. This is one of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight spitfires MK356, an LF IXe, representing Johnny Plagis' aircraft which was LM214 and an LF IXc.

THIS IS A SHIRT DESIGN THAT FEATURES THE RAF ROUNDEL THAT YOU MAY HAVE SEEN VIA THE BAND "THE WHO" AND IN MOD CULTURE, AS WELL AS THE TAILFINS OF RAF WWII AIRCRAFT. The roundel, especially that used by the Royal Air Force, has been associated with pop art of the 1960s, appearing in paintings by Jasper Johns. It became part of the pop consciousness when British rock group The Who wore RAF roundels (and Union Flags) as part of their stage apparel at the start of their career. Subsequently it came to symbolise Mods and the Mod revival.

Used by units under South East Asia Command and in the CBI theatre mid-1942 – 1946. Red removed to avoid confusion with Japanese hinomaru. Initially red was overpainted with white but this compromised the camouflage and the normal roundel blue was mixed 50:50 with white.
