I combined my digital version of Masquerade, Western Australia's new blue Kangaroo Paw, with a little Australian Blue Wren.

Photographed at Bremer Bay on one of my photography tours, this was my first proper sighting of a male Splendid Fairy Wren - and he posed beautifully!

A beautiful Australian Blue Wren is the central image in this pretty mandala. I painted the original of this one in gouache (opaque watercolour) on paper, then edited it digitally.

The Australian 'Masquerade' blue Kangaroo Paw exists only in Western Australia. It was bred here over the past decade, for colour and tardiness, to be grown in people's gardens. Here in my digital painting, a little blue Wren perches on the Kangaroo Paw stem.
