The Bonscale Towers are two cairns located on the ascent upto Bonscale Pike from the Martindale area of the Lake District. The ascent in this rea gives fantastic views onto Ullswater, before the track takes you away from the Ullswater towards Arthurs Pike, High Street, Loadpot Hill, before descending back to Martindale. A perfect winter morning on Ullswater in the Lake District

This lovely lake is surrounded by stunning mountain scenery to its south, softening to the gentle hills of the north. The lake is the second largest in England at seven and a half miles long, but is less than a mile across. It is also the third deepest English lake at 250 feet deep. There are dramatic views from both sides of the lake, by foot or by vehicle.

The Ullswater Steamers that ferry people around the various landing stages on Ullswater are a familiar sight to tourists in the Summer months. Taken here at the landing stage at Glenridding. The original purpose of the ‘Steamers’ was to carry passengers and Royal Mail provisions, slate from nearby mines and lead from the mine in Glenridding.

This design is from another page from my holiday journal and shows one of my favourite places in UK - The Lake District and Ullswater is perhaps my number one spot. Here my wife and I enjoyed many a bottle of cold white wine while looking out over the lake in Summer but this Winter scene is more suited to the Single Malt that I always have in a handy hip flask!

Angle Tarn is a small mountain lake in Cumbria, situated in The Lake District, on the Angletarn Pikes walk, near to Ullswater and about a mile north east of Hartsop.

Above Ullswater on Place Fell, a stunning view of Hartsop and Brotherswater can been seen through the morning storm. The cloud and mist was being whipped by strong winds, snow beginning to fall and the sun was breaking through in intermittent bursts. A stunning location, given so much more by the atmospherics on the day. Canon 5D MK111 24-105 L series lens

Place Fell up above Ullswater provides spectacular panoramic views over the Eastern Lakes area. In the winter, the snowcapped peaks look spectacular. From this image, we look passed the Trig point on Place Fell over the snow dusted rocks and across tot he mountain tops which include renowned Helvellyn and Striding Edge.
