Peering into the past.

Staircase ascending into Big Ditch, what once was Main Street, after the flood of 1895 sent a wall of water rushing through the town cutting a 35 ft. deep canal down the street, now is a river walk park. Yearly monsoon seasons can turn this usual quiet creek at the bottom of Big Ditch into an amazing raging torrent of water. In Silver City, NM there is always much excitement during the 5 days of the 'Tour of the Gila' bike race. During the Criterium event the cyclist race around the downtown city blocks. This is one of my 'Photo Art' creations, capturing the energy and the excitement of the cyclist coming down Ballard Street but also retains the charm of downtown setting in southwest New Mexico while telling a bit more of this story.
