Morning Conciergerie © Baseball T-Shirt

This is an image of the Conciergerie building taken from Pont au Change. The Conciergerie was formerly a prison and part of the former royal palace (the Palais de la Cité). Hundreds of prisoners during the French Revolution were taken from the Conciergerie to be executed by guillotine at a number of locations around Paris. Today it is used mostly as a court. The bridge that leads to the Conciergerie (Pont au Change - shown on the left) owes its name to the goldsmiths and money changers who had installed their shops on an earlier version of the bridge in the 12th century.
