Description: Hello friends and followers - Please join me in saying Hello and welcoming a dear friend of mine to RB. He goes by the name Kodiak-Images. He's not only a dear friend, but also my mentor and my photography buddy for the last 15 years or so. If I ever choose to have anyone join me on a lengthy photo trek anywhere, he is the one. Description: Avenida Palace Hotel is the only Palace in Lisbon's downtown. It was designed at the end of the 19th century by one of the most distinguished Portugese architects in the country (José Luís Monteiro) who had many portfolios in the City of Paris. He also designed the Rossio's Train Terminal (shown in my previous images in this portfolio). The hotel was inaugurated in 1892, a period considered as the Belle Époque, and was viewed as one of the best hotels in all of Europe by its glamour, location and service. The building was originally designed as a theater and cinema featuring very attractive art deco designs; it opened in 1937. Description: The following set of images are all about a side trip that I took while visiting Lisbon. It all started with waking up one morning and having a craving for a "good" fresh fish dinner. Someone had recommended a ferry ride across the Tagus River to Casilhas (a small community immediately south of Lisbon on the south bank of the river), with a short walk from the ferry terminal to the end of the path along the shoreline. This is an image of a small street that is littered with Tuk Tuks, small 3-wheeled motorized vehicles used mainly by tourists in the city. The drivers can be quite aggressive when it comes to soliciting tourists. One morning I decided to try one just for the experience.
