Getting into the Christmas spirit with this watercolour painting. I always enjoy painting birds because they allow for a lot of texture and brush experimentation, this one focusing on colour bleeding and a paint puddle kind of technique. Seasonal card variations of this design will be available over Christmas, so be sure to check the print store for these.

The words 'peacock' and 'alien abduction' were not words we ever expected to put together but then we created this piece. the peacock was just supposed to be lit so you could see its beautiful tail feathers but now the piece is finished we think it has a distinct 'about to be abducted by aliens' vibe!

Where does the peacock end and the fireworks begin? You decide!

Bird on a Wire

A red kite searching for food on thermals over the farm fields of Northamptonshire on a Spring day. Although the red kite is a bird of prey, red kites usually feed on carrion but will occasionally take small birds and earth worms as food. The red kite was extinct in England for many years but has now been successfully reintroduced and the call of the red kite can now be heard in many places around the UK.
