Description: Before their reunion in 2010, Pavement played their final, unannounced original farewell concert at London's Brixton Academy on November 20, 1999. The band's dissolution stemmed from creative exhaustion, growing tensions within the group, and frontman Stephen Malkmus’s desire to pursue a solo career. The signs of their breakup were famously on display that night. Malkmus attached a pair of handcuffs to his microphone stand, telling the audience they symbolized "what it’s like being in a band all these years". After playing their final song, "Here," the band members simply set down their instruments and walked off stage without a formal goodbye.
