The clock tower in the middle is the old market hall and is now occupied by a chain discount store. This town centre photograph will make a great jigsaw puzzle for those horrid winter days. After 3 years of planning and 10 years of construction, Toronto's third city hall was completed in 1899 and became home to the city council until 1966. Today the building serves as a court house for the Ontario Court of Justice and was designated a National Historic Site in 1989. The clock tower from 130 Queen St W. This images is one of a few showing some of the details adorning the façade of the Hotel de Ville (city hall) in downtown Paris. This specific section is a small part of the main tower on top of the building (the clock tower) which reads Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité, which is the national motto of France and the Republic of Haiti. Although this slogan finds its origins in the French Revolution, it was not institutionalized until the Third Republic at the end of the 19th century. It is also the motto of the Grand Orient de France and the Grande Loge de France. Looking back up the Kirkgate to Dunfermline City Chambers which is a building historically designed to be the centre of local government in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. In more recent times most of these functions have been devolved to other locations, but [as of 2008] the impressive edifice still houses the Council Chambers, the Burgh Court and Dunfermline's Registrar Office. The building, constructed in the period 1875-79, was created by James C Walker who also designed the first Carnegie Library. It employs a harmonious composite of French, Gothic and Scots baronial architectural styles and features a prominent four-face clock tower.

This Clock Tower was designed as a memorial to the Duke of Wellington and was built in 1854 at the southern approach to London Bridge. After becoming something of a 'traffic hazard', it was removed and re-erected on its present site in Swanage, Dorset in 1867/68 by local entrepreneurs John Mowlem and his nephew George Burt. Mowlem's business was importing stone into the city of London from around the country, including Purbeck limestone transported by boat from Swanage. The residents of Tarpon Springs, Florida, USA (descendants of Halki sponge divers who were forced to relocate when the sponge diving around Halki became unprofitable) endowed Halki with money for the stone clock tower. Unfortunately, it does not work any more. Halki is a small, charming island, part of the Dodecanese group of Greek islands, situated opposite the west coast of the Island of Rhodes. The Scottish country home of the British monarchy

In the centre of the small village of Birnam, Perthshire, Scotland, is St Mary’s Church, complete with its clock tower. The church was built in 1858 and is set in its own well cared for churchyard. The clock tower was added in 1883. Windows in the church are by a number of different designers, including William Morris. Situated on the banks of the River Tay, the conservation village of Birnam is home to the Birnam Oak, the last remaining example of Birnam Wood so famous from Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
