The 'Poppy Line' (a.k.a the North Norfolk Railway) runs between Sheringham on the Norfolk coast to the town of Holt, a few miles inland. Class 5 locomotive number 44767 'George Stephenson' is shown here at Weybourne station. The Class 5 'mixed traffic' locomotive (better known as the Black Five) was introduced by William Stanier on the London, Midland and Scottish Railway in 1934. Over 800 were built between then and 1951. Members of the class survived to the last days of steam on British Railways in 1968 and eighteen are preserved, including the George Stephenson shown here.
