The Brasenose is a 17th century pub in the village of Cropredy, 4 miles north of Banbury (Oxfordshire, England). Originally 3 cottages, it was built on land purchased from the Brasenose college. The Brasenose Arms is the only pub in the country with this name. The name is thought to be a corruption of the word 'brasenhuis' or brewhouse, the college having been built on the site of an ancient brewery. 5th April 2024.

The capital of the island of La Palma, one of Spain's Canary Islands, Santa Cruz de la Palma is a port town with narrow cobbled streets and houses with wooden balconies. 22nd May 2022.

Built in the 13th century, and situated on Dorset's Jurassic Coast between Ringstead Bay and Weymouth, The Smugglers Inn at Osmington Mills was a significant landing point for contraband in the 17th century. 20th March 2024.

This imposing English stately home, occupying an elevated position on the South Downs in West Sussex was built in the late 17th century. More recently, the building had to be extensively restored following a devastating fire in 1989 caused by a workman's blowtorch. 8th December 2023.

The wonderful, historic city of Lisbon (Portugal) is the subject for this latest collage. The 3 images on the left were captured in May 2022 during my all too brief visit there. The image on the right is included by kind permission of angel1.

This shot shows the foundations marking the original position of Clavell Tower (Kimmeridge, Dorset, England), before it was moved further away from the crumbling cliff edge in 2006. 6th March 2024.

An historic, grade 1 listed property, built in the 1830s in Gothic Revival style. Originally in Hampshire but now in Dorset since the county boundary changes in 1974. 14th January 2024.

Tilly Whim Caves are quarries that were worked mainly during the 18th century for Purbeck stone. In 1887, the caves were opened as a tourist attraction, but in 1976 they were closed completely for safety reasons (rock falls). 24th February 2024.

The Anvil Point lighthouse is a fully-automated facility near Durlston Country Park, Swanage, on the Isle of Purbeck (Dorset, England). Facing south onto the English Channel, the light is 45m above high water & the tower is 12m high. 24th February 2024.
