Originally an ink drawing, this is one of many Amabie's drawn during our pandemic. Amabie first appeared in Japanese in the 1800's. At the time Amabie said “If an epidemic occurs, draw a picture of me and show it to everyone.” A tee shirt seems the perfect vehicle for this! Amabie is described as a mermaid-like creature with long hair, a beak and 3 legs. Amabie is categorized as a yokai in the Japanese mythical tradition. This is my interpretation of Amabie, she looks good with a plague doctor's mask!

The amabie is a mythological Japanese creature. Rising from the sea, this scaled, long-haired, beaked & three-legged creature has the ability to forecast harvest. According to legend, if an image of the amabie is shown to the ill, they will be cured. This is my interpretation, where it's actually a mermaid wearing a mask who appeared.

Protection against COVID 19 comes in many forms

The amabie (Japanese ア マ ビ エ) is a Japanese mythical creature (yōkai), mostly described as a mermaid or merman with three legs, supposedly rising from the sea and predicting either a good harvest or an epidemic.

Possibly, it may be said that it will defeat the coronavirus that is spreading all over the world, the legendary ghost "AMABIE" Still pretty. I wish I had a little relief from the exhausted fight against the coronavirus.

"Good harvest will continue for six years from the current year; if disease spreads, show a picture of me to those who fall ill and they will be cured."

This is a drawing of the amabie, a yokai that came out of the water and told people to present her image to those who have fallen ill in times of an epidemic. On twitter, it's become a trend to draw her, so I tried my hand at it. I realized this would be cute on a sticker or something. So I decided to put it up here.
