The Japanese archipelago was mapped for the first time by Joan Blaeu in 1665. This map not only depicts Japan's territory, but also includes Korea, China, and Taiwan. Extensive commercial information is included as well as a footer with a list of navigational routes. The map was published in 1665 and this particular example is from a later edition from 1677.

This is a beautiful example of Henricus Hondius' map of Asia, made in 1631. Originally from Belgian, Hondius was one of the most prominent cartographers of his time. His maps are known for their attention to detail and accuracy for the time.
