Gallier Hall New Orleans Louisiana by Debra Martz Located on St. Charles Ave in the Central Business District, Gallier Hall is just across the street from the Lafayette Square. The buildings name comes from the architect, James Gallier Sr, who designed it to be the New Orleans city hall and dedicated on May 10, 1853. In the 1950s, the city hall moved to a more modern complex, the Duncan Plaza but Gallier Hall continued its traditional place of honor during Mardi Gras. La Ronde- a once-famous, concrete drum of joy, from my hometown of Billingham, Teesside UK. A town full of my beloved concrete. Some of the buildings have survived, some have been demolished including this, which I think is an actual travesty.

Historic Main Street - Aztec New Mexico by Debra Martz Spent a few days in Aztec, New Mexico mainly to visit the Aztec Ruins and explore some of the lesser known arches on the back roads. Had some extra time and spent several hours walking the historic downtown. From left to right.. 109 S. Main Avenue Townsend Building, N&SHR Built by Fred W. Townsend to replace a one-story structure destroyed by fire in l910. Mr. Townsend operated a meat market on the lower floor and the family lived on the upper floor. Neo-Classical, pressed metal sheathing and cornice on second story. 107 S. Main Avenue Odd Fellows Hall, N&SHR Odd Fellows Lodge members built this structure in l903 and have occupied the upper floor ever since....

The Green Door was created during a period of focus on architectural detail in my paintings. The door is slightly ajar leaving the viewer to wonder what is beyond it and to question whether they have permission to enter. The door looks like it may belong to a chapel with arched brickwork around both it and the adjacent window, and leaded glass also being present. The stone wall contains a range of subtle colour changes and is partially covered by a climbing plant. Original painting: Watercolour on paper 380 x 280mm
