Conwy Crewneck Sweatshirts

I had difficulty in deciding which view of Conwy (North Wales, UK) to paint. The obvious choice would include the imposing castle and maybe the historic suspension bridge. For this 16x12 inch oil painting though I opted for a view of the town and walls from across the estuary, seen by the low light of early evening - which gave it a nice warm glow.

Working fast and well prepped for all conditions... I quickly swopped out lens, for this light ray capture behind the shaded backdrop of Conwy Castle. It all happened so fast, that I've quite forgotten what settings, but I was shooting manually with vintage 135mm glass, I think..! Had an 85 with me but I don't think I quite had the reach and so had to change glass on the fly... I then worked in post production to tease out the light and get the separation - that I was looking for... An elderly gentleman, remarked that it would be a spectacular sunset and that it would look, good - in black and white, but I kinda liked the colour much better...!

A digital sketch of the Marina at Conwy, North Wales. Beautifully situated, this marina looks over the estuary of the River Conwy to Deganwy and the high ground surrounding Llandudno - notably the Great Orme. Conwy itself is steeped in history evidenced in the mighty castle standing guard over the town - a world heritage site. Here though, boats sit quietly at anchor or tied up at the jetties, their shapes reflected in the calm water.

Golfers here get manificent views - here looking across the estuary eastwards towards Deganwy which shelters under the bulk of the Great Orme. This links course is one of the oldest in Wales, dating from 1890. Further east from the Great Orme - which can be climbed by a tramway - lies the seaside town of Llandudno.

A boat lies high and dry on the beach at Conwy, North Wales as it is now low tide. Here the river ends its journey to the Irish Sea having begun life on the Migneint Moor, 34 miles away. Across the estuary is the bulk of the Great Orme and behind us is the toiwn of Conwy dominated by Edward I's massive castle. This image has been finished as a digital pencil drawing.

A shot using long exposure photography to emphasise the very fast white water flow of the Conwy River flowing through the town of Betws Y Coed, where some nice conifer trees have grown quite nicely... With so much rain, the rocks are very slippy at this time of year.

I've wanted to visit Portmeirion for ages and finally had the chance on Sunday. Such a lovely and colourful place - a photographers dream!

Working precariously perched on the water worn rocks, I composed this shot of Fairy Glen, where resident sprites are lurking... It seemed a magical place, and so I kept it dark and caught this long exposure in camera. The light earlier was too hard and harsh, so I had sat for almost an hour waiting for the sun to transit behind the massive ravine. The light just caught the trees and the mossy enbankment. Struggling to see the back of my camera, but I knew that the exposure was just right as the faint white streaks of water ~ were just what I wanted..!
