This work is made by my grandfather, illustrator Friso Henstra (1928-2013) It is the bookcover for the book 'De Ingewijden' (The initiates) by Hella Haasse. He was an artist from the Netherlands and mostly famous in the US for his illustrations for children's books in the 70's and 80's. His style was original and sometimes a bit psychedelic.
