This is my 3rd Australian Cockatoo painting, the first and second being a Galah and a Sulphur Crested Cockatoo. For this painting I used watercolours and gouache and I chose to do this beautiful bird because we used to have them in the wildlife park where I worked and I was particularly fond of them - they had a nice nature and were intelligent, entertaining and lovely to watch. Oct 4 2020 - Just won a 2nd prize at Queanbeyan Art Society for this. Happy Days!

Major Mitchell's cockatoo (Lophochroa leadbeateri), also known as Leadbeater's cockatoo or the pink cockatoo,[2] is a medium-sized cockatoo restricted to arid and semi-arid inland areas of Australia, though it is seen regularly in other climates, for example, South-East Queensland's subtropical region. It is here placed in its own monotypic genus Lophochroa, though to include it in Cacatua as others do is not wrong as long as the corellas are also included there. They are also a type of cockatoo.

Cockatoos are medium-sized parrots from tropical regions of the world. There are many kinds of Cockatoos, including the Cockatiel which is the most common type kept as pets. They are easily recognized by their crest of head feathers (used to show emotion) and their curved beaks.

This cockatoo reminds me of visiting my grandparents house growing up. Pop always had at least one cockatoo as a pet and my sisters and I loved talking to them for hours. Well except for one called Butch who would chase us around the backyard. The cockatoo is a watercolor paintings.

I love seeing trees full of cockatoos and other birds. You really feel like your in nature when there are lots of birds chirping in the trees. Cockatoos are one of my most favorite birds. This would be because I associate these birds with many happy memories spent as a child and my Grandma and Pop’s place who always had cockatoos as pets. The tree and cockatoos are painted with watercolor paint.

The Echidna, a Gum Tree and all the cockatoos was drawn, painted with watercolors and then digitally combined to create one image. My husband and I got married in a national park and every time we walk to the exact spot where we got married from the car park, we come across the cutest Echidna.
