Looking along th River Seine to the magnificent cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris before the fire in August 2019. This image has been given an art finish. Work starting on its construction in 1150 and It was completed in 1260 but was added to over succeeding centuries. It was badly damaged during the French Revolution and then, during renovation work in 2019 was extremely seriously damaged when it caught fire but hopefully reconstruction will be successful and it will stand proudly once more.

This is an image of Pont Notre-Dame taken from an adjacent bridge. The Pont Notre-Dame bridge crosses the Seine in Paris and links Quai de Gesvres on the Rive Droite with the Quai de la Corse on the Île de la Cité where the Notre Dame Cathedral is situated. The bridge is noted for being the "most ancient" in Paris. All images are taken with a Canon 5D III (full frame) and a Canon 7D II (crop frame) using a variety of Canon L-Series lenses, and Tamron and Sigma pro-line lenses; processed in RAW with ACR, PSC, Photomatix, and a variety of other imaging software. Notre-Dame cathedral is one of the most notable and most recognizable structures in Paris. Notre-Dame de Paris (meaning "Our Lady of Paris", also known as Notre-Dame Cathedral or simply Notre-Dame) is a medieval Catholic cathedral on the Île de la Cité in the fourth arrondissement of Paris. An image of Notre Dame taken on an early morning stroll through the heart of the city. This particular vantage point was shot from the entrance to a little park behind the cathedral known as Square Jean XXIII. This image shows the southern side of Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral (Our Lady of Paris) in Paris, photographed from across the River Seine. It is a historic Catholic cathedral situated on the eastern half of the Île de la Cité in the fourth arrondissement of Paris. It is widely considered to be one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture and is among the largest and most well-known church buildings in the world. This image is of the southern façade of Notre-Dame de Paris, specifically showing the top part of the portals. There are three portals to the church - the Portal of the Virgin, the Portal of the Last Judgment, and the Portal of St-Anne. One of my favourite views of Notre Dame in black & white. Photographed with a Canon 400D, Paris, France. Notre Dame was a short 10 minute walk from our apartment on Rue Dauphine in the middle of Paris. You walk across one of the many bridges over the Seine (Pont Neuf was the closest). The river is full of boats with exciting, waving tourists. Just in front of the cathedral, to the right, stands a large statue. The inscription reads "Charlemagne et ses levdes", meaning “Charlemagne and his noble servants”. Charlemagne, also known as Charles the Great, was the great Frankish king during the 8th century who helped define the Western Europe we know today through his conquering.
