A fishing boat sitting on the shingle at Cooden Beach near Bexhill-on-Sea in East Sussex. This is a very quiet stretch of beach compared with the area's bigger resorts. It's reachable by road and has its own railway station and a hotel. This image was captured on a fine day and has been processed to give the impression of a coloured pencil drawing.

Reckoned to be the most photographed house in England...by some! The picturesque, ancient, fishing village of Clovelly is uniquely special and was once owned by the Queen of England. From Elizabethan days until today, Clovelly has been in private ownership, which has helped preserve its original atmosphere.

Two fishing boats portrayed in the style of an impressionist painting. This pair was photographed on the beach at Hastings on the south coast in East Sussex in late afternoon sunshine. This shingle beach is called the Stade - the Anglo Saxon word for landing place. Here we find the Hastings fishing fleet - now the largest beach launched fleet in Britain.

The beach at Aldeburgh on the Suffolk coast. A fishing boat is drawn up on the shingle with its paraphernalia scattered around. Aldeburgh, facing the North Sea, was once the home of the composer Benjamin Britten and now hosts a world famous international music festival at nearby Snape Maltings. The town, now a pleasant seaside resort was once a major port and shipbuilding centre until the River Alde eventually silted up, becoming impassable to larger ships.
