The Twelfth Doctor is an anomaly. We call him the 12th Doctor, but he's the 13th version of the Doctor. Also, Time Lord biology only allows them to regenerate 12 times, but he was technically the 13th regeneration. (The 10th Doctor regenerated twice and the War Doctor was a secret regeneration. The numbers are all off, but we Whovians accept it because it fits in with the Timey Whimy absurdities of the show.) I have been a fan of Doctor who since the 70s. Over the past few years i have done a series of Paintings from Space and time to pop art splat. This is part of the Pop Art series which is based on the swirl of the time vortex. All the paintings feature in the 60th logo which is a concept

“We all change when you think about it. We're all different all through our lives. And that's okay, that's good. You've got to keeping moving. As long as you remember all the people that you used to be. I will not forget one line of this, not one day. I swear. I will always remember when the Doctor was me.” I came up with this idea shortly before the premiere of the Series 8 and the new Doctor, Peter Capaldi. I wanted to honor all the regenerations in one painting. It's one of my largest - 48" x 24". The concept of a regenerating lead character is what makes Doctor Who so special. There's this short moment at the end of the two-part story Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead. Both Donna and the Doctor have experienced deep loss. Donna lost her stuttering husband she met while in the fake reality of the library planet's hard drive. And the Doctor lost River Song, a stranger who knew his name and clearly had a heavy and major impact on his future. Donna asks the Doctor if he's alright. He responds with "I'm always alright." And Donna asks if that's time lord code for "really not alright." The Doctor asks why and Donna says in a somber tone, "Because I'm alright too." The dialogue is striking and heavy, because the implication of their shared pain is tangible in their faces even though they are saying ...
