Keep Calm and Play Hurdy-Gurdy from a drawing of my antique Hurdy-Gurdy.

The hurdy-gurdy is generally thought to have originated from fiddles in either Europe or the Middle East. The hurdy-gurdy is a stringed instrument that produces sound by a hand crank-turned, rosined wheel rubbing against the strings. The wheel functions much like a violin bow, and single notes played on the instrument sound similar to those of a violin. These instruments can be decorative and I have added my own decoration to this lute backed instrument.

This is a drawing of a 1920's Hurdy-gurdy after Pimpard. The rosehips, sunflower and other botanical images adorn the background and my inspiration came from the hedgerows of late summer from around my home.
