Remembering Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour Restaurants. 1963 - 2019. Farrell's became known for their offer of a free ice cream sundae to children on their birthday. The parlors had an early 1900s theme, with employees wearing period dress and straw boater hats, and each location featured a player piano. By 1975, there were 120 Farrell's nationwide.

Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour was an American restaurant parlor chain founded in Portland, Oregon, in 1963. It had a turn of the century vibe loosely based on the late 1800s/early 1900s with both the decor and employees looking (and speaking) the part. Farrell's was a hit with families, especially with the kids, as their very American menu was bolstered with countless soda and iced cream based deserts. It was very much a dining experience as specialty desserts like the Hot Fudge Volcano were ceremoniously carried in on a stretcher like tray carried between two servers, usually accompanied by a song, so between that and the player piano, Farrell's was not the place to go for a quiet bite to eat.

Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor was a widely popular chain of restaurants from 1963 to 2008 throughout the United States. The two locations in the Valley of the Sun were inside Chris-Town Mall and on Scottsdale Road and Indian School Road in Scottsdale.
