Description: The majestic words of Genesis chapter 1, verse 3 ring true across the ages. I designed this piece using the polygon tool in Photoshop to create the stars, and the background. The font is the Viner Hand ITC (but edited to my tastes). I painted everything using a warm yellow-red palette, in a style that reminds me a bit of 1950s style advertising art.
Description: For this design, I set myself the challenge of creating with only flat color (no gradient or airbrush tools). The central star was created with the Photoshop polygon tool, creating several layers of stars, each one slightly lighter than the last. The effect creates the impression of gradation while using only flat color and shape. For the text, I chose the Viner Hand ITC, which (to me) conveys a sense of antiquity. The text is painted with strategic use of flat color to create the impression of light without actually using any gradations or airbrush effect. This design was created for printing on dark surfaces (ideally black). My intention is to convey the moment God spoke and light came into being. To see more of my work: www.tcstarnes.com
