Description: Lewis and Clark settled down in the winter of 1805 at Fort Clatsop which was located just to the southwest of modern-day Astoria. Rich in history Fort Clatsop commemorates the end of the Lewis & Clark trail. It is here that Astoria was born. Astoria was named after John Jacob Astor and his fur trading company founded fort Astoria in 1811. It however did not become its own city until 1876. Description: In the Siletz language, Yachats means “dark water at the foot of the mountain,” and the Oregon Coast Range, surging ocean waters, and tide pools sunk in the black basalt of the shoreline make the name altogether appropriate. Located in a very unique spot, Yachats (pronounced YAH-hots) is widely regarded as the 'Gem of the Oregon Coast'. Instead of sandy beaches, much of the coastline near Yachats is composed of rugged black basalt that produces surging sea landmarks like Devil’s Churn, Spouting Horn, and Thor’s Well. Phenomenal views can be seen from Cape Perpetua, the highest viewpoint on the Oregon Coast, located just a few miles south of town. At the 2010 census, the population was 690, and was named one of the "Ten Coolest Small Towns."

Description: The Portland Beavers was the name of separate minor league baseball teams, which represented Portland, Oregon, in the Pacific Coast League (PCL). The team was established in 1903, the first year of the PCL, until the last iteration ended playing in 2010. Players who got their start with the Beavers include Stan Coveleski, Jim Thorpe, Mickey Cochrane, Ted Williams. An 56 year old Satchel Paige even pitched for them in 1961.
