United Air Lines - Distressed, Vintage LuggageSticker - United Airlines, Inc. (commonly referred to as United) is a major American airline headquartered at Willis Tower in Chicago, Illinois. United operates a large domestic and international route network spanning cities large and small across the United States and all six continents.Measured by fleet size and the number of routes, it is the third largest airline in the world. It is a founding member of the Star Alliance, the world's largest airline alliance with a total of 28 member airlines. Regional service is operated by independent carriers under the brand name United Express. United was established by the amalgamation of several airlines in the late 1920s.

Founded in 1925, Western Airlines was in a tough spot after WWII ended. The airline lacked the financial resources that other big airlines had, but still needed to grow to compete. Rather than chase the competition, they decided to set the bar sky-high. Western introduced pressurized cabins in 1954 and passengers were catered to with filet mignon and seafood, cigars, perfume, and orchids, and even champagne toasts. In 1956 Western added their official “VIB” (very important bird) named Wally, as the airline’s mascot. Wally helped redefine the all first-class in-flight experience and reminded consumers that Western was a premium airline and truly "the only way to fly."

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Concord's first commercial flights on January 21st 1976, I have created a set of illustrations depicting Concord from the first flight in 1969 through to the final flight in 2003. This image is of Air France Concorde F-BVFA, in 1988 it flew around the world in a record breaking (at the time) 41 hours 27 minutes. It can be seen on display in Chantilly, Virginia, USA.

Flying Tiger Line, also known as Flying Tigers, was the first scheduled cargo airline in the United States and a major military charter operator during the Cold War era for both cargo and personnel (the latter with leased aircraft). The company was started by Robert William Prescott on the grounds of Los Angeles International Airport in Westchester, Los Angeles, California. The airline was named after the Flying Tigers fighter unit of World War II, officially the 1st American Volunteer Group. Ten former AVG pilots, after returning to the United States in 1945, formed the Flying Tiger Line established in June 1945 as National Freight Service using a small fleet of 14 Budd Conestoga freighters purchased as war surplus.
