Athena was the Greek Goddess of wisdom, courage, inspiration, civilization, law and justice, strategic warfare, mathematics, strength, strategy, the arts, and crafts. Minerva is her Roman counterpart. She was was a companion to many of the great heroes in Greek legend. She was also the patroness and protector of Athens. A perpetual virgin, she never married.

Hermes is a god of transitions and boundaries. He is quick and cunning, and moves freely between the worlds of the mortal and divine, as emissary and messenger of the gods, intercessor between mortals and the divine, and conductor of souls into the afterlife. He is protector and patron of travelers, herdsmen, thieves, orators and wit, literature and poets, athletics and sports, invention and trade. In some myths he is a trickster, and outwits other gods for his own satisfaction or the sake of humankind. Hermes is identified with the Roman god, Mercury.

My own take on the ancient Solar Cross symbol, also known as the Sunwheel, Sun Cross or Celtic Cross. This symbol may be the most oldest cosmological symbol of them all. The earliest examples of the Solar Cross date back 11 thousand years, well into neolithic times. It is a symbol of the cyclical nature of time and can represent the day/night cycle, the orbit of the earth around the sun to create the year with its cycle of four seasons, Spring, Summer, Autumn (Fall) and Winter. Its cyclical nature also makes it a symbol of Fortune and the impermanence of both tragedy and success. For this reason it may be treated as a good luck symbol.
