Single American Pelican by Debra Martz The Great Salt Plains Lake in northern Oklahoma is a wonderful place to catch many birds during Fall Migration. Snowy Egret Performance by Debra Martz It might look like a performance but it's their attitude about territory that gets them up in the air and running sideways like this. Incoming one wanting to take over the fishing spot where the other was being successful. If there are several in close proximity, you will most likely get a show like this! Captured below the spillway at the Great Salt Plains State Park in northern Oklahome. Gnatcatcher On Greenery by Debra Martz The Blue-gray Gnatcatcher is a beautiful, tiny bird that makes itself known by its soft but insistent calls and its constant motion makes it hard to capture. In addition to its constant in and out, up and down movements, it flicks its white-edged tail from side to side, scaring up insects and chasing after them. Painted Bunting -Painterly by Debra Martz It just seemed to me that with a bird this vibrant and named Painted Bunting that it should be processed with a painterly effect. That's right, this handsome male flew right to the tree in front of me as I was preparing to unload and sit in my chair to rest.
