Setley Pond Number of views as of 29th February 2016 = 1100. A New Forest pony enjoying some fresh, green shoots at Setley Pond in the New Forest (Hampshire, England) between the towns of Brockenhurst and Sway. Originally a royal hunting park, the New Forest was created by King William the First in 1079, so it isn't really new at all. In 2005 however, it became England's 8th National Park. Roughly 90 per cent of the 225 square miles of Forest land is still owned by the crown, but is managed by the Forestry Commission. Occupiers of land in the New Forest are granted commoner's rights allowing their ponies, donkeys and cattle to roam & graze freely on the open heathland and some woodland areas. Triple Punch Number of views as of 9th May 2019 = 1270. Heather Keeble working her team of three Suffolk Punches in the Heavy Horse Turnout Championship at the New Forest Show, near Brockenhurst, Hampshire, England. The team are harnessed in 'unicorn' formation, one at the front, two at the back. The breed, always chestnut in colour, takes the first part of its name from the county of Suffolk in East Anglia, and the name "Punch" from its solid appearance and strength. Date: 28th July 2011.

Spectacled Owl Number of views as of 8th March 2018 = 500. The spectacled owl, Pulsatrix Perspicillata (sounds like a wizard's curse), pictured at the New Forest Show, Brockenhurst, Hampshire, England. Date: 28th July 2011.

This painting is a view of a favourite spot around Shatterford Bottom in the New Forest (Hampshire, England). Its round about early October, when the birches have lost most of their leaves and the bog myrtle changes to shades of bronze and gold. The grass is neatly cropped by the ponies that roam the forest. The water is peaty and very dark, giving the reflection of the sky this deep blue colour. Such a beautiful spot I love to visit again and again. You'll find it on the walk from Beaulieu Rd station to Brockenhurst. Painted in oil on a 20x16 inch board, based on my original photos of the location.

Royal Mail Coach Number of views as of 26th February 2018 = 1280. A replica of the London-Holyhead Royal Mail Coach, seen here with four horse team, at the New Forest Show, near Brockenhurst, Hampshire, England. In the late 18th century, these mail coaches would cover the 261 mile 'Irish Mail' route between the city of London and the port of Holyhead (Anglesey, Wales), in approximately 27 hours. At Holyhead, the mail continued its journey to Dublin by boat. The advent of the railways saw the rapid decline of the mail coach in the 1840s and 1850s. Date: 28th July 2011.

For quite some years this was my best work, only recently eclipsed. It shows a popular spot in the New Forest, Hampshire at a time when there was nowhere around. Here the river meanders lazily through the trees slowly changing so you can never find the same spot again. This view, captured in oil on board (20inches x 30inches), comes from Autumn - round about late October or early November. One December morning I went for a walk through the New Forest National Park (Hampshire, UK), heading North from Brockenhurst to Lyndhurst. It was a cold morning but the sun had removed the frost from everywhere but this glade, where a little mist and the tree blocking the direct sun got me this view. Painting in oil, the layers of mist and sunburst proved and interesting challenge. Painting measures 20x16 inches.
